![]() Betsaida Bibo Verdugo
Graduate Student M.Sc. Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas del Noroeste Biography: Betsy is known for her proficiency with observation, intuition, and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic. While studying caspase activation she has learned that once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth (or at least this week's truth). Trained by the celebrated Jedi Twins ObeConor and ObeO’Don, Betsy realized early on that the use of CRISPR/Cas9 can unleash the dark side. She will lead the fight against Genome Editing, and return the Galaxy to the true path of hard core biochemistry. |

Kararzyna Groborz
Graduate Student - on loan
M.Sc. Wroclaw University of Science and Technology
Biography: Kasia is on loan from the prestigious Wroclaw University of Science and Technology where she has been applying her magic to unravel the prime region. This little known region of proteases holds many secrets, and Kasia is considered the one most likely to provide tasty and successful explorations of the prime side. In her spare time, Kasia likes to play CyTOF and expects to challenge the great power of IMC with her magical chemistry.

Sumanth Gurram is a junior at Westview High School who has been working with the lab on a biophysics cancer project. He and his fellow researcher David Wu are examining the effects of low-frequency magnetic field exposure on nitric oxide synthases in various cancer and macrophages cell lines. The goal of the project is to increase nitric oxide and reactive nitrogen species concentrations to negatively affect cancer cell viability.
